This hotel is located in Avenida 5 de Outubro, number 11, 11.and enjoys an excellent setting in the commercial centre of the Portuguese capital, between Platz Marquês de Pombal and dem Platz Duque de Saldanha. It is only a couple of metres to Avenida da Liberdade and guests will find themselves in the direct vicinity of a range of bars and restaurants as well as links to the public transport network. It is around 1 km to the famous Barrio Alto and to the other tourist attractions, such as the Alfama the EXPO centre and Belém are about 5 km from the hotel. Lisbon international airport is situated approximately 4 km from the hotel.

Great hotel for those wanting quality and quiet

Superb hotel for those wanting peace, quiet and quality. The rooms are nice, clean and well furnished. Hot water for showers is plentiful. Brekky in the morning is the usual continental buffet style, hot "English brekky" food is available, friend eggs can be ordered for example. Brekky in the morning is the usual continental buffet style, hot "English brekky" food is available, friend eggs can be ordered for example. Its located a distance from the city centre, though the Saldanha Metro station is a 5 minute walk way. There are a few cafe's, bards and restaurants in the immediate area if needed. We did not chose to eat at the hotel. I would recommend though using Uber to get to and from Lisbon centre as wherever you need to go, walking is not advised due to the amount of ascent & descent involved.

Upon arrival front desk not friendly. Triple room, sofa bed was health and safety risk, had 6 inch gap to walk through, told them but they were not interested in hearing it. Breakfast waitress no smiles no manners, didn’t speak. Hotel clean.Upon arrival front desk not friendly. Lovely hotel away from the hustle and bustle. It's a good 30-minute walk to the start of the main tourist areas, and also where the sightseeing buses are. The reception area is lovely and clean and smells fresh. There is a small bar area here. We had roomLovely hotel away from the hustle and bustle. We had room 612. Lovely room with a small balcony just to stand on. Lovely arched windows plenty of light.
There were twin beds pushed together to give a super sized bed. The main problem we had was storage, the configuration of the room. It had large bedside tables. This meant you could only open one wardrobe door fully and open the drawers about 5 cm. Quickly solved by moving the bedside table nearest the window towards the window and moving everything across. Although the room attendant moved it back again every day. It could be easily resolved, keeping them in the position we moved them in. It just meant it didn't line up with the headboard. Shame, really. Also, there were only 5 coathangers, so take more if you need them. There wasn't much in terms of storage for clothes, just the 2 drawers at the bottom of the wardrobe. We did move the extra pillows and blankets from the top area of the wardrobe to create more space for clothes. The room had a safety deposit box, fridge and desk, kettle, and refreshments. The bed was really comfortable and the air conditioning very quiet. The bathroom was large, lovely, and clean, a really handy shelf to store your toiletries under the sink. There was no plug in the basin, this we believe is just what happens here. There was hand wash and body lotion here, and a shaving mirror and hairdryer in the area around the basin. The bath with shower over, was easy to operate by pressing the buttons for either a bath or shower. There were bath/ shower gel, shampoo and conditioner here. The room was spotless and towels regularly changed. Breakfast is served on lower level , a great assortment of pastries, fruit, bread, juices, drink machine. There were a few hot items. Staff friendly and helpful. It's a real shame about the storage issues of our room as it would have been 5 stars from me, really easy to sort though..but doesn't spoil the stay.

Perfect first time stay in Lisbon.

Everything about the hotel was fantastic from start to finish, the bed was super comfy and really big, the room was massive, the staff were super friendly and helpful, the breakfast was fantastic and it’s really close to two metro stations which makes getting into Lisbon City Centre really easy.

Genuinely if I ever go back to Lisbon this will be my first choice. Also it’s really close to some really good restaurants.

The room was well equipped with everything you would need including a free safe which is usually chargeable. The beds are extremely comfortable too.
The bathroom has a hairdryer, shaving mirror and all the toiletries you need too.
We had a balcony which again was a bonus.

It dropped one point as our sleep was disturbed by the man in the next room snoring very loudly. Even with earplugs you could still hear him. I don’t know if his balcony door was open but ours was closed and it was still really loud.
The hotel is immaculate and the staff were friendly enough.

City break to Porto

Lovely hotel, 20mins walk from centre square of Porto and then another 10 mins to the river front. There is a metro 10 mins from the hotel which is easy to use and gets you to the river quicker. The breakfast was plentiful and set you up for the day ahead. We had an early trip and the hotel arranged a breakfast pack for us to take as we set off before breakfast started. Best let the reception know the night before for this service. Overall great hotel. Good base.

We stayed here three nights 2 - 5 November 2024. First impressions were good. We arrived early and, as expected, the room wasn’t ready, but we were able to check in, just not move in. Things went downhill after this. After a few hours of exploringWe stayed here three nights 2 - 5 November 2024. First impressions were good. We arrived early and, as expected, the room wasn’t ready, but we were able to check in, just not move in. Things went downhill after this. After a few hours of exploring Porto, we were able to access the room. I tried to lower the temperature, but as it’s November, no air con was available! Apparently it’s switched off during the cold months! It was in the low 20’s in the daytime, during our whole visit, so not exactly cold. I had to open the window with all of the concomitant noises, to cool the room down. There were no USB ports, which is unforgivable these days. The room was sparsely furnished, with only one desk chair and desk and no arm chair. Very little storage was available in the room, but there was a large safe. The bed was on the small side and we slept OK. The lack of air con meant we had to open the window to get cool air in to the room and thus we had a LOT of street noise during the night. The TV was quite small and there was no way of knowing what the TV and radio channels were. I found it difficult to turn off, though my partner managed it.
The bathroom had very little storage space. Lots of towels but only two hooks. The water was very hot. The shower was very good although it took me a while to adjust to the correct temperature. My partner caught his arm on the hairdryer fitting and grazed his arm. The water was hot enough to wet shave with, but the sink didn’t retain the water, even with the plug closed.
Breakfast was ok, better than some, worse than others. Lots of fresh fruit and a decent coffee machine. All the usual suspects, cereal, hot food, cold meats and cheeses. The bakery section included mini Portuguese tarts and good croissants.
The staff were all very good. The location is bit out from the centre but easily accessed from Marques Metro station. Would I stay here again? Probably not in the cooler months with no air con. In the summer? Maybe.

Just got back from a week at the Cristal in Porto, we had a fantastic time. Breakfast was lovely and all the staff at breakfast were very helpful. The hotel is a bit of a walk (25 mins) to the centre but if are able it is nice to walkJust got back from a week at the Cristal in Porto, we had a fantastic time. Breakfast was lovely and all the staff at breakfast were very helpful. The hotel is a bit of a walk (25 mins) to the centre but if are able it is nice to walk but otherwise there is a Metro station not far and also bus stops. All the people we came into contact with at the hotel were very polite and friendly, must especially mention Chief Leo (which is what he told me his name was) and also Hugo in the bar as they were both so friendly also always available for a chat. Thank you all of you at Cristal for making our stay so special.

This was a very elegant and beautifully designed hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was very comfortable with a view over the garden terrace. It is in a rather out of the way location for all the main sights but we had no trouble calling aThis was a very elegant and beautifully designed hotel. It is in a rather out of the way location for all the main sights but we had no trouble calling a Bolt or taking the metro 3 blocks away. The breakfast was excellent.

Booked two rooms for a four night stay.
The first room was an upgraded(€25 per night) larger room with a queen bed, relatively modern and nice bathroom with toiletries. The second a single room but this had a nice outside balcony.

We found the reception staff, in fact all staff very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was a mix of some warm dishes i.e quiche, bacon, beans and cold offerings like cheeses, pastries etc, all were regularly replenished and of good quality.
The location is slightly out of the hustle and bustle but a 20min walk downhill and a little longer back, the hotel is also on a bus route and taxis were around. A few good restaurants and shops were close by the area felt pretty safe and quiet.
The hotel has a nice outdoor area to just sit out and chill after a long day.
We had a late return flight and reception were more than happy to look after our cases once we checked out so we could enjoy the day.
Overall for the cost we thought the hotel was excellent, the nice breakfast and friendly helpful staff added to the experience and we will definitely stay here again.
